Physical Methods | Medicinal Methods (Galactagogues)

Biological name: Medicago sativa

Capsule Dosage: 2-4 capsules, 3-4 times a day

Alfalfa, a popular and commonly used galactagogue, is often taken in combination with blessed thistle, marshmallow, and fenugreek. It is rated as “generally regarded as safe” by the FDA.

  • Loose stools
  • Contraindicated for persons with a history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
  • Large quantities (greater than therapeutic dose) of alfalfa can produce a reversible pancytopenia in humans.
